AIMP AWARDS HONOR INDY SONGWRITERS AND PUBLISHERS
The Indie music universe continues to explode. With the advent of streaming services, (DSPs) independent writers and artists are building followings, gaining massive exposure for their music and breaking in ways that were previously unheard of. No where is this more evident than in Nashville, where hits in all genres are made daily.
Cue the independent music publishing community. In case you didn’t know, the role of artist development has largely been taken over by the publisher today. Not the record labels. They find the raw stone (the writer or writer artist), mine it, cut it and polish it into the valuable, sparkling jewel. And boy do these gems shine!
The depth of talent in the publishing community is staggering. The recent AIMP awards (Association of Independent Music Publishers) was a testament to this very fact. Give yourself a treat and dive into the music created by these insanely creative people.
Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley, Ben Hayslip, Hillary Lindsey, Shane McAnally and
Josh Osborne are just a few of writers I’m talking about. They all got the noms for writer of the year.
Check out the this year’s nominated songs. Each represents a long journey of artistry and craft so if you’re interested in moving up in the songwriting world, look em’ up, listen to and study them.
